Rocover files on DropBox

Image
I started using Dropbox a few years back, mostly due to its convenience (or laziness!). What is Dropbox? Dropbox is a cloud service that allows you to seamlessly upload files onto a cloud server for backup and synchronization across all your devices. The upload of saved files happens automatically in the background as you work on documents on your computer. Accessibility and Convenience This way, your files are accessible from anywhere with Dropbox installed (there's even a Dropbox app now). You or several people can work on a single file, accessing it at different locations, different times, using different machines (because the file is actually stored on the cloud). It's like a portable USB stick that you'll never forget to bring! File Recovery (Dropbox is More Powerful Than I Thought!) However, I didn't realize how powerful Dropbox really is until recently. A few days ago, a friend called me for help. He had accidentally replaced a file in Dropbox that he had been wo...

Phrases from Shakespeare

Image
Found this site which has a good summary of popular English phrases. Some of Shakespeare's phrases are still in use today. Others could do with a comeback. Visit their website for more resources: http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/phrases-sayings-shakespeare.html How many of these do you know? A countenance more in sorrow than in anger A Daniel come to judgement A dish fit for the gods A fool's paradise A foregone conclusion A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse A ministering angel shall my sister be A plague on both your houses A rose by any other name would smell as sweet A sea change A sorry sight Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio All corners of the world All of a sudden All one to me All that glitters is not gold / All that glisters is not gold All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players All's well that ends well An ill-favoure...

Google Glass and Augmented Reality

Image
Google has now unveiled features of its Google Glass, a wearable glasses that does a lot of clever stuff.  Augmented reality is definitely the way forward. Already with our Smart Phones, we use technology to complement more and more aspects of our lives. But taking out the phone from your pocket to check the map, to look up a restaurant, to surf the Internet or to take a picture is still a clumsy process. The device is very detached and we need to look for it when we need to use it. Which is why a wearable glasses that can provide some of the Smart Phone functions real time may be desirable. Having said that, any glasses wearer would tell you it is not a piece of accessory that they would choose to wear, given a choice. It is not so convenient when doing sports, and historically glasses have not done well as a fashionable item. I can see people wear these devices for work or when at home. It w ould be more challenging to convince people to wear one of these wh...

SPQR - Senātus Populusque Rōmānus ("The Senate and People of Rome")

Some Travel Tips Arriving at Rome  Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport Airport Upon arrival, depending on the terminal, you may need to take a free light rail service to the baggage claim area from the boarding gate. In that case, just follow the sign and take the train. Don't worry, it won't actually leave the airport, although we were slightly worried we may have left our luggage at the airport. Video on Youtube by @thisisuey Travel to and from the airport The Leonardo Express is a fast train service that can take you from the airport to Termini station. At 13 euros it is a bit expensive, but it gives you a peace of mind. Alternatively, if you are not in a hurry, look around more carefully outside the airport. There are coaches that can take you to Termini station at only 4 euros per passenger. You will also get to see some of the tourist spots in advance as the bus cruises through town. You can catch either the Metro, other trains or buses at Termini station. Most bus...

Live simply so others can simply live

Image
I came across this online just now. It's a good reminder of how lucky we are. All the fine dining, fancy lifestyles, expensive wine, holidays (I'm guilty of this one), furniture, and decorations - how many of us actually stop and think about what we're doing? Let's face it, none of the material things we buy are a matter of life or death for us. We ought to be able to live simply and yet contentedly. So why do we need to keep buying all this junk? To make us happy? Surely we can tell how shallow that sounds, even before we say it, considering there are others dying of hunger. I've always had this silly idea: anyone who has not been poor or experienced hardship should be given a chance in their lifetime. It helps to bring things into perspective, helps one appreciate every penny, and enables them to sympathize with those going through a hard time. Okay, I'm in a weird mood and sounding very preachy, let's end this post quickly! Next time when we "spend j...

Open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew opener

Just what the title says really, wish I knew this back in the student days but this could still be a rather cool party trick. On the other hand, someone must have been quite desperate to come up with this idea. Remember to drink responsibly, Enjoy! Amazon.com Widgets
