Roma Pass (source: www.italylogue.com)

Roma Pass is valid for 3 days, costs €30, and gets you free public transport in central Rome plus free entry to the first two attractions and discounted entry to around 40 others.
  • Free entry to first two museums and/or archaeological sites visited
  • Discounted entry to all other included museums and/or archaeological sites after that
  • Discounted entry to some exhibits & events
  • Free public transportation in Rome (bus, metro, Met.Ro trains, trams)
  • Discounted multi-lingual medical service for tourists via 24-hour call center (MET Travel Health)
It’s worth the money just to skip the line. Choosing the most expensive attractions for your first and second visits makes sense, such as the combined Colosseum/Palatine/Forum ticket. Unfortunately, the Roma Pass doesn’t cover the Vatican Museums – you could purchase the OMNIA Vatican & Roma pass for this. It costs €85 and does pretty much what the Roma Pass does, except you have access to audio guides, itineraries, and an open-topped bus. The hop-on-hop-off bus will take you to all the major sites with minimal walking and a lot of time saved.

Note that the Roma Pass does not cover transport Trenitalia (Italy’s national train system) or the Leonardo Express (train to/from Fiumicino Airport in Rome), and not everything in Rome is on the list of included attractions.

Some of the 40+ included museums/sites on the Roma Pass are:
  • Colosseum
  • Roman Forum
  • Palatine Hill
  • Capitoline Museums
  • Baths of Caracalla
  • Borghese Gallery
  • Castel Sant’Angelo
  • Ara Pacis Museum
  • National Museum in Rome
  • Trajan’s Market & Forum
  • National Museum of Musical Instruments
  • Planetarium & Astronomy Museum
  • Ostia Antica Excavation Site

Buying a Roma Pass in Rome:

Roma Pass can be purchased at Tourist Information Points in Rome, including the train station and Fiumicino Airport, travel agencies, hotels, Atac (bus) ticket offices, newsstands, and tabacchi (tabacchi definition). In addition, Roma Pass can be purchased directly from the museum or site ticket windows. Roma Pass can also be purchased ahead of time from the Roma Pass site.

Start using your Pass:

You’ll fill out the appropriate section with your name and the validation date. This date should be the first day you plan to use the pass – which may or may not be the first day of your stay in Rome.
