In the documentary, the locals of northern Iraq spoke about the trauma of war and the hardships their country and community had endured with remarkable composure. Despite everything, they demonstrated a warm and welcoming attitude, which was truly inspirational for me.
Today, on day 16 of my gratitude diary, I'm reminded of how blessed I am, along with my family and friends, to be living in the safety and stability of a relatively peaceful place. We often take for granted the existence of peace, assuming it to be a natural and achievable state of being in the modern world. Unfortunately, that is not the reality for millions of people around the globe who continue to suffer the effects of war and conflict. Therefore, I am grateful for the peace and stability that we are fortunate to have.
It's disheartening to think that only a couple of years after this diary entry, the Ukraine war became a tragic reality. But, I remain hopeful that future generations will continue to strive towards preserving world peace.
