Board Game Review 2: Railways of the World

The second game we ended up playing at a different dinner party last weekend was very different to Balderdash. And it took a lot longer to play.

Railways of the World is a strategy game. You have to build railway tracks to connect up cities and gradually build up your railway empire. You decide where the lines should go and you gain points every time other players use your railway line.

There are many variations to this game, and very quickly every player will emerge with their own unique strategy on how to play. Some will borrow heavily to build quickly, some will focus on a handful of strategic cities, some will look for loopholes and bonus points by completing certain events.

The game is very well made and a lot of fun to play.
Sadly, this doesn't seem to be available on Amazon. If you are a retailer selling this game it might be an idea to seize this opportunity and open an online shop!

Good points about the game:
A sense of achievement to see you gradually building up your railway system. It also teach people a lot about business and thinking strategically. Finding your own unique style of playing is also quite an enlightening experience.

Negative aspects:
Depending on how many players, this game can take more than 6 hours to complete. There are also a lot of rules to go through in the beginning, but it's definitely worth the effort. It should be easier if you play with someone that is already familiar with the rules.
