This doesn't sound good, although it is hardly surprising that there may be ways of accessing personal information from these devices. Still, most consumers will probably not like this additional feature on their phones.

I was perplexed about what could have triggered this. I called customer service, who speculated that an expired debit card on file may be the issue.
