Dubai - Things to Do

So, I have been doing some research on Dubai. Mainly because I am considering going there for my next short break, it sounds like a good place for a city break - and it provides some difference from the European and American destinations.

Here is a list of some places to visit in Dubai that I have found, and it's still growing!

Al Ahmadiya School (info) Dubai’s first school, founded by pearl merchant Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk in 1912.
Aqua Dunya Theme Park (Info) The largest theme park in the Middle East. (can't locate on google map though..)
Bait AlWakeel (Heritage Restaurant)

Bastakia (Info) Narrow lanes and tall wind-towers, a glimpse of old Dubai.
Burj Al Arab (Info) Famous sail like hotel.
Burj Khalifa (Info) The Tallest Building in the World..for now.
Children's City (Info) Educational centre for children between two and fifteen years old in Creekside Park, Dubai.
City of Arabia (Info) Retail, residential, commercial and entertainment destination. Its four key elements are Mall of Arabia; Restless Planet, earth science museum and planetarium; Wadi Walk, a water front community with stylish apartments, outdoor cafes and attractive retail outlets; and Elite Towers, a group of 34 impressive commercial and residential buildings.
Dhow Ship Building Yard (Info) See dhows being made. close to the Al-Gharhoud Bridge and along the Dubai creek.
Dubai Autodrome (Info) The first fully integrated motor-sports facility. one of the most modern and fastest in the world. The Middle East's only indoor go-karting track
Dubai Creek (Info)Natural seawater inlet. can take an abra (small water taxi).
Dubai Aquarium & Underwarer Zoo (Info)One of the largest tanks in the world. More reason to visit Dubai mall.
Dubai Creekside Park  (Info)A Green Haven; West Shore of Dubai Creek
Dubai Festival City (Info) More shopping…and Jamie's Italian is here.
Dubai Fountain (Info) Performances take place at 1:00 pm and at 1:30 pm as well as every 30 minutes from 6 pm to 10 pm on weekdays, and from 6 pm to 11 pm on weekends.
Dubai International Film Festival (Info) Hollywood in the Desert.


Dubai Mall (Info) World's largest shopping mall based on total area (2009).
Dubai Museum In Al Fahidi Fort (Info) Restored Al Fahidi Fort.
Dubai Sports City (Info) Literally a city, click for link.
Dubai Zoo (Info) Zoo oo.
Emirates Mall (Info) Shopping. Ski Dubai is also here.
Global Village (Info) Music, dances, arts and handicrafts, theatre, costumes and cuisine of different countries.
Grand Mosque (Info) Dubai's Tallest Minaret, non-Muslims are not permitted.
Great Dubai Wheel (Info) London eye, UAE style - big bigger!
Hatta Village (Info) A historical village located in the rocky Hatta Mountains that goes back thousands of years.
HH Sheikh Saeed House (Info) Former residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai from 1912-1958.
Jumana (Info) Secret of the Desert theatre show in Dubailand.
Jumeirah Beach (Info) Sand and Sandwiches.
Jumeirah Beach Park (Info) Relax around the beach.




Jumeirah Grand Mosque (Info)Free tour of Jumeirah Grand Mosque every Sunday and Thursday at 10am, led by a guide from the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. Conservative dress required and ladies should wear a headscarf.
Khan Murjan (Info)Traditional Arabian Arts & Crafts underground Souk.

Marvel Theme Park (Info)
Theme park rides with the Super Heroes.
Narish Khyma (Info) museum with a wide variety of local boats.
Palm Islands And The World (Info) Largest manmade islands in the world. Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Deira.
Restless Planet (Info) Educational theme park with earth science museum and planetarium -City of Arabia.
SAGA World Dubai (Info) Not just another mall, this one is dedicated to the promotion of fine arts and crafts! Thank to the reader that pointed this out.

Sheikh Mohammed Centre For Cultural Understanding (SMCCU)  Based in the Bastakia Quarter of Dubai. Jumeirah Mosque Tours, Cultural Breakfast, Bastakia Walking Tours, Cultural Lunch, Spoken Arabic Courses - Gulf Dialect.
Ski Dubai (Info) First indoor ski resort in the Middle East situated at the Mall of the Emirates.
The Souks (Info) Traditional Arab markets.
Souk Al Bahar (Info)Arabesque shopping, entertainment and dining destination.
