EU Blocking Regulation
Not sure if it's just me but there seemed to be very little coverage by mainstream news about this at the time when it came out in May 2018. The European Commission put in place measures (the Blocking Regulations) to effectively counteract the effects of US sanctions on Iran. It's rare for the EU to take such a clear and public stance against a US foreign policy. This felt like a watershed moment. Will we see more divergence between the two continents where Europe starts to define its position, priorities and preferred approach to solving some of the current problems, even if that means going against some historic allies?
